Ep. 39 Yardsale & Sidewinder of Lookout Hostel

Cranky and Tumbles hang out with section hikers and hostel owners Yardsale and her daughter Sidewinder.  We discuss the AT and the dedication and costs of being a section hiker or LASHer.  
We also chat about starting a hostel business from the ground up and how to juggle your hiking while running a hiking based business.  
Lookout Hostel off of Rte 309 in PA will be open to hikers at a first come, first served basis in 2022 and we’re definitely looking forward to visiting!

Ep. 38 Winter Wonderland at Kaaterskill Falls

Tumbles and Cranky return to the Catskills for what turned out to be a gorgeous winter walk in the woods. Highlights were the historic Catskills Mountain House and an almost frozen Kaaterskill Falls.  Needless to say but we’re ready for winter!

Don’t be an asshole. That’s the name of the game.  Tumbles and Cranky go over some social media faux pas that have come up recently on the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s Instagram as well as get a hearty hello from some nice folks in Africa. 
The episode is rounded out with talking about how your hiking/backpacking kit works well preparing for potential real world issues.  Enjoy!

Ep. 36 Training (or not) for Success

The R&R team completed the Randall’s Island (NYC) Go Nuts for Donuts 10k today and they're here bring you some tips as to why they felt strong so strong after the beast Stowe Half Marathon, how they trained, what they ate (Halloween candy!) and why acknowledging and overcoming the pain cave is so important.

Ep. 35 FarOut in the Shenandoahs

Cranky and Tumbles have made their safe return to the AT as they conquer another section of Shenandoah National Park.  A pleasant 21 miles gets the duo to mile 912 and an eye toward the end of their 101 AT journey of the park (about time!).  Chats about the park’s layout of the trail, the campsites and the new Guthook app update which is now called FarOut.
